Stefanie’s Biography:

Specializing in anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), perfectionism, and people-pleasing, Stef understands that our brains can be absolutely incredible and, on the other hand, totally treacherous. This is especially true if you struggle with anxiety and OCD as both conditions, in different ways, can make daily life feel heavy and exhausting, erode self-confidence, rob us of joy, and make it hard to be present with what really matters to us. If your brain frequently turns fleeting thoughts into vivid images of impending catastrophe, makes otherwise neutral events seem like massive existential threats, and constantly casts doubt over every decision you make, then please take heart: good therapy with a therapist who has been there and knows how hard it can be to live with a brain that never “turns off”, can help. Please note that Stef keeps her scope of practice on the narrower side, focusing primarily on anxiety, OCD, and other related concerns, to ensure that her clients get the very best of her skillset as a therapist.

Stef has eight years of experience as a therapist and is trained in various evidence-based therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), among others. She knows what it’s like to live with the throes of an anxious mind. In Stef’s view, good therapy is a collaborative process that should help us gain insight into ourselves and equip us with the skills needed to navigate an uncertain and rapidly changing world. Knowing that our brains are wired for survival and not necessarily happiness (unfortunately), Stef’s approach focuses on helping people befriend their brains and empowering them to step out of patterns that generate struggle and internal strife. Her overarching goal is to help you shift from coping with life to genuinely living it and being incredibly brave—even on the really tough days.

Stef invites you to bring your unvarnished self to each session and is committed to meeting you exactly where you’re at. She has a down-to-earth style, is allergic to “therapy speak” and won’t sling clinical jargon at you, and brings a healthy dose of humour into her work. She loves seeing her clients become more trusting of themselves, develop the courage to confront their fears, and live out their most deeply-held values.

Above all, Stef really wants you to know that you’re not struggling like this because you’re weak, incapable, or doomed. Life can be quite absurd and being human is just really tough sometimes, even when you're doing your best to cope. She would love to help you reclaim some joy, befriend the emotions that are hard to feel, and live with courage, regardless of what life (or your brain) is throwing at you on any given day.
