Ashley’s Biography:

Ashley is a Master of Social Work student who brings authenticity and understanding to her interactions with clients. She works to support and empower individuals no matter their stage of life or experience with therapy. Ashley believes that creating a positive relationship with others helps to foster a place of learning, resilience, and growth.

Ashley has built her therapeutic approach in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and various arts-based methods. Ashley is committed to her practice, especially helping individuals work through adversity. She understands the barriers when accessing therapy, and commits herself to creating a space of mutual safety and trust.

Ashley graduated from the University of Guelph with a major in psychology and a minor in visual arts. Since then, she has worked as a direct support professional with adults, youth, and children. In addition, she has experience as a youth worker, where she supported creative growth and expression with economically disadvantaged youth. She also has ongoing involvement in research at Wilfrid Laurier University with refugee families and expectant mothers facing adversity and war.

In sessions, Ashley will arrive with a warm and calm presence. She always shows up for her clients with positivity and empathy. Throughout her career so far, she has supported clients as they overcame tragedy, loss, and difficult family circumstances. She will prioritize your goals for therapy, while helping to identify your strengths, or on occasion, offer insights from her own experience. She loves to share a conversation, and usually a few laughs along the way.

Ashley believes it often takes time and strength to share your story, or to attend therapy. Taking the first step can be the hardest part when making this change, and Ashley will be there to support you on your journey.

During her spare time, Ashley enjoys painting, playing guitar, hiking, or trying new recipes. She enjoys eating what she cooks (most of the time) and hanging out with her two cats.
