Mikayla’s Biography:

Life can feel overwhelming at times. Whether you're navigating anxiety, family conflict, difficult emotions, or unexpected life challenges, you don’t have to face it alone. Mikayla believes that healing begins in a space where you feel safe, understood, and accepted. She is passionate about walking alongside children, youth, young adults, and families as they build resilience, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful change.

Mikayla's approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that every person has unique strengths and experiences that deserve to be honoured. She values building genuine, trusting relationships with her clients and understands that healing looks different for everyone. Her goal is to create a collaborative, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, develop new coping strategies, and move forward with confidence.

Mikayla is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She holds a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Children and Families from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University, and a Social Service Worker diploma from George Brown College.

Mikayla has over three years of direct clinical experience providing individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches. She has extensive experience supporting children, youth, and families with complex mental health challenges, including within secure psychiatric treatment settings. Her background includes crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, DBT skills group facilitation, and collaborating closely with families, legal teams, and interdisciplinary professionals to provide comprehensive care during times of crisis and transition.

Mikayla uses an integrated, client-centred approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and other evidence-based interventions tailored to each client's unique needs. She believes therapy is a collaborative process, working together to identify goals, build on existing strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change. Mikayla is committed to meeting clients with compassion, curiosity, authenticity, and a touch of humour along the way.

Outside of the therapy room, Mikayla enjoys getting lost in a good book, sewing, going for walks, and spending quality time with family and friends.
