Shannon’s Biography:

Shannon is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Waterloo, currently completing her advanced field placement with Transformation Counselling. She believes therapy is a space where people can show up as they are, without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. She is particularly interested in supporting people experiencing anxiety, stress and burnout, life transitions (such as work, school, and moving), relationship challenges, difficulties with self-esteem and confidence, or uncertainty about who they are and what they want.

Shannon’s approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that people are the experts in their own lives. She works alongside clients to understand what they are experiencing and explore changes that feel meaningful and realistic for them. She values creating a space where clients can be honest, ask questions, and work through difficult experiences at their own pace. Shannon draws from approaches including CBT, DBT, Narrative, and Somatic Therapy based on the individual and what feels helpful to them.

Before joining Transformation Counselling, Shannon gained experience in crisis and mental health settings, supporting people experiencing anxiety and depression, neurodivergence, sexual violence, questions around sexuality, self-harm and suicidality, and challenges within romantic, family, and friendship relationships. These experiences have shaped her ability to remain calm and present during difficult conversations and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are.

Outside of work and school, Shannon enjoys spending time outdoors on her hobby farm and relaxing with the people and animals in her life. She loves dancing, art, gaming, and a good TV show, and hopes to spend more time travelling and exploring new places.
