Why Consider an Autism Assessment?

Many adults discover they have traits of autism and never received a formal diagnosis. These traits often show up as challenges with social cues, sensory sensitivities, intense interests, or wondering why certain life patterns repeat. A formal assessment provides:

  • Clarity about whether autism may be part of what you’re experiencing.

  • A diagnostic roadmap and next steps (therapy, coaching, accommodations).

  • A stronger basis to request workplace or academic supports (if required).

  • Peace of mind: whether the answer is “yes” or “no,” you’ll have better insight.

Our Autism Assessment Process

We follow a client-friendly, evidence-based process that supports you from first intake to feedback.

1. Intake & Pre-Screening
You complete a brief contact/intake form about your concerns (e.g., lifelong socialness, sensory issues, executive functioning). We’ll ask about any past reports, developmental history, and schedule your assessment.

2. Clinical Interview & Questionnaires
In your assessment session you’ll meet with a registered psychologist. We’ll review your life story (childhood through adulthood), look at how social, sensory and communication patterns have shown up, and how things operate for you now. You’ll also complete standard autism screening tools and questionnaires.

3. Additional Testing (as needed)
Depending on your history we may include cognitive/executive-function testing or observational tools to assess how things like attention, processing, and sensory regulation contribute. We tailor the depth of assessment based on what you need. Not everyone needs full neuropsychological testing.

4. Feedback & Report
Once the evaluation is complete, your psychologist writes a detailed report summarizing:

  • What the assessment tells us

  • Whether the criteria for autism spectrum disorder are met

  • Other contributing or co-occurring issues (e.g., ADHD traits, anxiety, learning differences)

  • Recommendations (therapy, coaching, lifestyle adjustments, accommodations)

Then we meet for a feedback session where you can ask questions and we walk through the results together.

5. Next Steps & Support
If you receive a diagnosis:

  • We help you understand options, such as: therapy, coaching, peer-support, workplace/academic accommodations

  • If you do not receive an autism diagnosis, the report still gives you valuable insights about what’s going on (e.g., sensory processing differences, executive-dysfunction, social communication style)

  • Our therapists are ready to help you build clearer social strategies, sensory regulation, executive functioning and meaning-driven life planning.

Frequently Asked Questions About ADHD Assessments

  • Yes. Adults can be assessed and diagnosed by qualified professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, or specialized practitioners) if the evaluation shows the criteria are met.

  • Not quite. It involves a full clinical interview, symptom questionnaires, and possibly additional psychological testing. The aim is a complete picture of how you’ve functioned over time and how you function now.

  • It depends on the complexity of the assessment, what’s required, and availability.

Typically The process looks like this:

    1. intake/free consultation

    2. interview/questionnaires

    3. any testing

    4. report

    5. feedback.

And can be complete within 3-4 weeks. We’ll share the exactly timeline during your first consultation.

  • That’s common. We take a flexible, thoughtful approach that looks at your lifelong pattern, not just early formal records. Lack of perfect childhood documentation doesn’t prevent a meaningful assessment.

  • You’ll receive recommendations and supports including:

    • Therapy (social-communication, sensory regulation, executive functioning)

    • Peer or group support

    • Possible referral for workplace or academic accommodations

    • Strategies to thrive with your neuro-diverse profile

If you’re not diagnosed, you’ll still gain valuable insight and direction for support.
