Mia’s Biography:

Mia is a Master of Social Work student at Wilfrid Laurier University, currently completing her advanced field placement with Transformation Counselling. Mia is passionate about empowering individuals to better understand themselves and build practical skills for navigating challenges and fostering meaningful change. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive, non-judgmental safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. She would be honoured to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges and work towards your goals.

Mia draws from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice, with an understanding that each person’s experiences, needs, and goals are unique. Mia will work collaboratively with you to explore what is most important and find approaches that feel supportive and meaningful. She brings warmth, curiosity, and empathy and believes that trust and genuine connection are an important part of the therapeutic process.

Mia completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Guelph, where she worked as a research assistant studying mental health and substance use in undergraduate students. She has since supported clients through a wide range of roles, including at University of Waterloo Accessibility Services, where she worked with students navigating a variety of struggles surrounding mental health, neurodivergence, learning disabilities, and other accessibility needs. Mia also spent time as a volunteer emotional support chat responder, providing a compassionate and non-judgemental listening ear to individuals in moments of distress. Across each of these roles, Mia approaches every relationship with curiosity and warmth, and has consistently prioritized compassionate, person-focused care.

Outside of her clinical work, Mia enjoys painting, reading, gardening, hiking, as well as spending time with her dogs and cats.
