Barrie wraps around the end of Kempenfelt Bay, the long western arm of Lake Simcoe, and its downtown runs straight down the hill to the water. That makes it an easy city for dates on foot: a gallery in an old library, a city-run theatre on Dunlop Street, a Saturday market at City Hall and a waterfront trail lined with public art.
